i am starting a fan sports site which may or may not be focused heavily on fantasy sports.

i was wondering what key features should i give me users? i am thinking about a framework to be decided upon by the end of the week before i start coding all of the pieces.

That's a pretty general question, John_Su. I think a fan site will likely have quite different features than a fantasy sports site. My first questions would be,
- Why are you starting the site?
- What would you like it to be in a couple of years?

I'd pick whichever topic interests you most, as for the first year or two you'll probably be spending a lot of time building, promoting, and managing without too much in return.

I definitely want to start a fan site or fantasy site around a sport a love. what would be the best way to promote such a site? and yes i dont plan on pulling a return for a bit.

A good way to promote such a community would be to visit other Sports/Fantasy Sports forums or communities and keep a link in your sig/profile. Become active on those forums/communities and others will soon visit your site.

MySpace and other Communities are also good resources.

There's a ton of ways to get quick traffic ... just be careful how you accomplish those goals ;-)
