Does anyone know of a tutorial that will run me through creating 1000's of members profiles dynamically using PHP and MYSQL? They won't all be created at once, just when a person joins. I lack the knowledge on how to do that.

You don't need to reinvent the wheel, just use one of the many pre-built forum scripts out there, many of which are free, any of which will give you all the basics you need. Check out phpBB, PunBB, or vBulletin for starters. :)
