Having a large community and panning to launch a web based IM (Instant Messenger) for more interaction between community memmbers...so far Fash based hosted solution looks the best to offer...
Any other recommendations?

I don't have a specific suggestion, but I'd probably look at sites like hotscripts.com to find software solutions. Integrating this with your membership database may take a bit of custom coding.
