How do I increase traffic and build a loyal readership?

My site is an entertainment review site...

Hello, I am new here. My name is Tim and I am webmaster for a site that hosts reviews for movies, music and video games. The reviews are written by me and a few staff reviewers I have.

I have been running the site on its own domain for almost a year and can't seem to get the following that I want and expected to have by now. I have tried adding a discussion board which aside from a few friends and haters is basically dormant.

I have considered buying more storage from my provider to offer more movie, song and game clips but A) this would come out of my pocket and B) I don't know if I would get into copyright issues. I might already be infringing with my screen shots and album covers.

At any rate if some of you could take a look at my site and give me suggestions. I pride myself on having an advertisement-free site and finally gave into putting adsense by Google on the site but really don't want to get into banners and such.

Thanks in advance.

I would say that if people can get this stuff on other sites, it will be hard to get people to come to your site. Try to find something unique or hard to find on the internet (this could be interviews with the bands/actors, unique ways of completing missions, or even humor is at a premium) and the audience will find you.
