My forum-based website contains many code snippets that are useless to SEs (like guest welcome/login messages).
I'd like to hide these parts from Googlebot because:
1. They are useless to Google
2. Many times Adsense is confused because of this (for instance, ads about password managers are often shown simply because the keyword "login" is found in page)
But I'm afraid that it might cause Google to ban my website...
The main motivation to do this is to help adsense show more relevant ads.
What do you think? Should I do this?
Thanks,
Khaled.
It's been my experience that Google sometmes uses AdSense (MediaPartners) IP Addresses for human-review (in case a flag is raised or someone accuses you of doing something nefarious like cloaking).
I've also noticee that a spider that identifies itself as an AdSense UA one day will spider pages of the same site (or other site) the next (or even the same day) from the same IP Address... only this time identifying itself as GoogleBot.
VERY confusing.
