Google China office seems to start running. I have seen Google starting to advertise their desktop search tool on several Chinese IT portals.

Google opened up a representative office back at the beginning of May [webmasterworld.com]. We all thought then that Google China would be opening soon, but it looks like that will still be a while off.
What you're seeing now sounds like Google's marketing arm getting busy. When Google does finally open in China I think it will be a big deal.
