Does anyone know what encoding is best for Japanese search engines?
Japanese (EUC) Japanes (JIS) or shift-JS?

Many thanks

Any of them will work with Japanese search engines. However, keep in mind that x-euc-jp and iso-2022-jp were problematic only a few years back. Although they are better supported by modern browsers they still have issues with older software. Most pages with shift_jis or x-sjis have never given me trouble. Those are the safest bet. The new kid on the block is utf-8 which seems to work well in modern browsers...which is what Google Japan uses on its site.
