alibaba may be able to sell itself to a U.S.-based Internet company, like eBay (EBAY), Yahoo (YHOO), Google (GOOG), or a Chinese Net company with media-mogul ambitions, like Shanda (SNDA), which has already taken a 19-percent stake in Sina (SINA).

Weren't you just telling us the other day [webmasterworld.com] that Alibaba was out to sink eBay Shak? Now they're an acquisition target? They're definitely one to keep an eye on.

I'd be very interested to hear what our members in China think Alibaba is doing right. What's the local appeal for this company?
