article [chinatechnews.com]
Just a day after Yahoo China (YHOO) announced its new paid rankings search service, Baidu.com disclosed to reporters that the "Paid Rankings" system was originally created in China by Baidu and Yahoo has no right to offer the same service on the mainland.

Is anyone else seeing news about this? The referenced article doesn't have too much information.

According to [people.com.cn...] , since Google failed in the lawsuit about "Paid Ranking" with Yahoo, and Baidu's "Paid Ranking" used Google's technology, so Yahoo China's staff think they're the first "Paid Ranking" service provider in the globe.

That's hilarious. Thanks for the explanation hutuworm.

I seem to be reading about a lot more lawsuits in China. Are more companies over there using the courts to settle disputes like this? This seems to be somewhat of a switch toward a more Western business ethic. I know that the lawsuit culture is still in its infancy in Japan.

They are just quarreling, it's not time to court. If they went to court, they may both lose the battle. Sometimes, quarreling is a good way to marketing because it can make more and more people know what you are doing!
Many "smart" firms like to establish fame and prestige by quarreling. Yahoo is getting more and more Chinese and localized .
