Google IPO effect on Japanese Users

Will the hype increase usage?

Despite the IPO being during a major unofficial holiday period, has anyone notice an increase in Google Japan traffic? Kinda hoping the IPO hype will cause people in Japan to use google directly.

Traffic is down this month, but the Obon holiday usually does that. I ran the logs on one site just now and saw that Google Japan had moved up to the #2 spot. Last month at this time it was #3 just behind MSN. Relatively it appears that Yahoo and MSN have remained consistent and Google has increased its percentage of referrers this month.

It would be a stretch to say this was the result of the IPO talk, but that may be a factor. Are you seeing more traffic direct from the Google Japan site this month?

Obon was a clear drop, with things back to normal now. Too soon to say if I'm getting any more traffic from google.

I did an overture keyword advisor search though- 3016986 google
searches. Will be interesting to compare it next month.
