AdSense for Chinese pages - when?

Is there an alternative?

I run Google AdSense on the English pages of my site, but I also have pages in Chinese, both GB and B5. The AdSense Preview tool shows example ads (mainly from Hong Kong) for these Chinese pages which makes me assume Google is working on it.

Has anyone any idea or feel for when Chinese will become an approved language for AdSense?

Alternatively is there anything similar I could start to use now?

jk3210,

Thanks for replying. I had amost given up hope anybody would.

I certainly hope that Google is working on it. I now get 20% of my traffic from my site's Chinese pages - it would be nice to be able to stick some ads on those pages :)

Do you speak Chinese, or did your have your pages translated?

I just got a few pages translated into Spanish and it turned-out to be fairly easy. I imagine Chinese would be much tuffer, though. Different characters, etc.

To answer your question with my limited knowledge, I would say that there is no way Google can ignore Chinese much longer.

Probably just a question of logisitcs and priorities.

Yes, I do speak some Chinese. The pages mainly consist of an image relating to China with a title and a brief description. It would be difficult for me to write anything lengthy which would look OK to a native Chinese.

Just a heads up, that Adsense is now available in four new languages, including Chinese, although on Simplified Chinese at this stage.

More details:

I would be interested in any feedback from people publishing Adsense in Chinese when you have an indication of effectiveness (without specifics of course).

Thanks to Jenstar who noticed the additions and posted such in the Adsense forum.

Woz,

Goodonyamate. Thanks for the head up. I didn't spot the post in the Adsense forum, but saw an update on Google yesterday.

Put ads on my simplified character pages yesterday. Now waiting to see if it has made my fortune. :)

Which you will of course share with you fellow WebmasterWorlders. ;)

Seriously, I would be interested in the results.

Woz, it looks as if my fortune is still some way off. :(

Only about 10-15% of my traffic comes from the Far East so it will take some time to get meaningful statistics, but so far my Chinese channels are performing about average - a long way behind my top performers. Most clicks are only in the few cents range. (I hope its not against Adsense TOS to say that.)

One issue is I do not know for certain what ads are showing in China because this is not an option on the Adsense preview tool. Also the preview ads don't change whatever country I select which is a little confusing.

I would be interested in other people's perceptions.

I have now been running Adsense on my simplified Chinese pages for almost a month. Results are abysmal. CTR is just about a single digit, and CPM less than 50c. Results are much worse than my English language channels.

I have tried different ad colors but no noticeable difference, so next step is to try repositioning. But as the results are so low should I expect much improvement?

Question is: is this a typical result? Or is it just me?
