"Three top-level Google researchers will fly to Melbourne this week on a recruitment drive, raising speculation that the world's leading search engine is to establish a development centre in the city.

.....On Friday, Dr Craig Nevill-Manning, director of engineering at Google's New York office, engineering vice-president Dr Wayne Rosing and software engineer Dr Martin Kaszkiel will address an audience of computer science engineers on future technical problems facing the company. An informal lunchtime session over pizza will follow."

Thats a pretty awesome array of guys. If I was in Melbourne today - I'd be heading down to Melbourne Uni this morning to see if there were any spare seats!.....

No that surprising.

Most people don't know but there are a number of major tech companies that have RnD centres in Australia.

For example:
* SAP in Brisbane
* Motorola in SA (although I beleive they may be heading further West)
* Citrix in Melbourne
* IBM in Perth.

Those are just the ones I know about.

Australia is cheap compared to the US and politically stable, with a good supply of quality IT graduates.
