I did a search at www.google.co.jp for ケアンズ オプショナル ツアー (Cairns Optional Tours) and was very surprised to see our Ozlifestyle - Cairns (Hotel) ad showing as the only key phrases we have listed for this ad are:
ケアンズホテル (CairnsHotel)
ケアンズ ホテル (Cairns Hotel)
ホテル ケアンズ (Hotel Cairns)

What is going on? This is a big problem as we could be paying for untargeted click throughs that are not worthwhile or worth very little.

My guess is that you have broad matching turned on. You know how to use the brackets, quotation marks and other options in AdWords, right? Could you have missed one somewhere?

I would agree if the key phrase we were advertising for was ケアンズ, but I wouldn't have thought it should happen for a specific term like Cairns Optional tour.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the broadmatching on AdWords, but I'd guess that it is picking up on that first keyword. It doesn't sound like it's too far off the mark in terms of relevancy...maybe not to you, but at least it's in the same industry. You'll have to get stricter with the disallowed keywords I think.
