Google Japan changes display of ads

Now top two ads show up the top

Now the top two ads from Adwords show up the top of the page as though they were sponsored links (if there are no sponsored links).

I have not seen this new format on Google Australia yet.

It's been like this on .com this week at least. I haven't dared tread in the Google forum to find out the scoop.

I've noticed this is true for top, competitive keywords. Lower bid keywords are still showing ads only on the right.

I've noticed this just recently. Imagine the clicks those top ads must get :)
