Credit card data isn't too hard to get ahold of - the personal data needed to successfully forge large purchases is the real prize
Really? Do you mean to say that once one knows a name, address and telephone number, it's easy to learn that person's credit card number? If that is true, isn't it also dangerous to be listed in a phone book? And wouldn't it be just as easy to learn the new number after it's issued?
Methinks your alarm is excessive as is the brouhaha in the news over this event, at least here in Japan. Many companies have had credit card info leaked and gotten less press.
