Japanese title tags - which alphabet is best?

Just creating my first Japanese site. H1, P etc are Japanese characters. The title tags will contain Japanese KWs.

My question is: Which alphabet is best to use in the title tags?
1.) Japanese characters.
2.) Western characters (the words will be Japanese).
3.) Both

Take a look at the recent SEO for JP site [webmasterworld.com] thread. There are a bunch of others like it.

You can use English as a backup, but your primary effort should be in the Japanese language.
