Anyone know which database feeds Rediff and any tips on SEO

I have been commissioned to increase the exposure of one of our clients in Indian search engines and my research indicates that Rediff seems to be the main player (please feel free to correct me on this if I am off the mark).

My questions are:
Does anyone know which SE database feeds Rediff?
Do they have their own?
What spider should I look out for?
Any tips on SEO for Rediff?
