Yahoo Japan - still including free listings?

for commercial sites

I'm just wondering if anyone here has been able to get a free directory listing for a commercial site in Yahoo Japan, within the past several months?

The "new" listings for the categories I monitor all seem very commercial- therefore likely paid inclusion, or very non-commercial- therefore likely to be freely included.

I've seen stuff included in other Yahoo's, but Yahoo Japan has not been adding any of my stuff for free. That's not for lack of trying ;)

I heard from one of my friends working at Yahoo! that Yahoo!Japan does not review any commercial sites from free submission. You need to subscribe paid review when you are gointg to submit commercial sites.

How does it work for categories that have no paid option? Some categories only allow standard(free) submissions.

Thanks for sharing that with us. I had always assumed that was the case, but it's hard to get confirmation on some of these things.

Yahoo Japan does not include any new commercial sites for free. I have been submitting to Yahoo Japan since it opened and have found that for the past 6 months or so there have been few to no free submissions accepted in any form.

We have tried submissions as well as asked them directly and it is no go. If you want to be in you have to pay.

The other problem is that if you do not have sufficient Japanese content they will reject the paid listing. You then have to go through the appeal process once you have added "sufficient" Japanese content.
