I have a client reselling some products in NZ. His options are to use Aussie or US dollars as they cannot use NZ dollars.... it's a long story... with these two choices which would be preferred?

The NZ dollar appears to be marginally more stable against the Aussie than against the US. For a long time AU$1 = NZ$1.20 to 1.25.

Thank you anallawalla. I did talk to my host tech person and was advised that some NZ folks dislike buying from AU. I did not really get that comment but he was serious and suggested I would be better off trading US dollars.

Forgeting the exchange rate and stability issues, from an average persons view would they 'feel' more or less comfortable with one or the other currency? Perhaps the question is better put, which is more common?

I don't think you'll get a definitive answer. AU & NZ are great sporting rivals but see each other as close cousins and have fought in the wars together. Of course, AU has fought with the US in the Gulf and Afghanistan since the 90s, but I am not sure that the average Aussie feels any closer to the US .

I am a dual NZ/AU citizen who visits the US a lot, so I like to think I am less biased. Some of us like UK TV shows while others like US shows. This might affect some people's choices but I am fairly sure there is no widespread "anti" AU or US sentiment.

There might be a perception that a prioe in US$ is cheaper than one in AU$ because a lot of US-sourced items are cheaper than what we pay in AU.
