.asia, like .eu suffer from a seeming disconnect between the NICs and the search engines. None of the major SEs seem to lend any local boost to these regional domains [webmasterworld.com].
I purchased my .asia names to prevent squatters and trademark infringement. I don't have any plans to use them for anything else at the moment.
What reason would they switch to .asia? Maybe a few english based websites that want to market to the english speaking people in Asia. Personally I think it's a huge scam and stayed far away
.asia is a bit of a lost name because everyone in Asia is fairly patriotic and their respected .cn or .jp domains are established within the country. Also their languages are all vastly different so there's not much point to market a website under .asia to the whole Asian Community..
well said.

that's basically it. its great for our branding of our regional offices/partners as well. also, "asia industry" oriented information sites.
but for those that think its going to get you site more "localized" in the SEO sense... save your money.

A common name + .asia extension can be useful and I dont think Google or other search engines put more value on .net's vs .asia
Best TLD or SLD to market Asia?
.asia is the best TLD to market Asia.
Time will tell. good luck anyway.
