Traffic from MSN Japan to our site doubled between Jan 2003 and Feb 2003 so it looks like there must have been an update to the Wisenut data they are using.

Why would you say it's Wisenut?

I thought we worked out a while back that Looksmart owns Wisenut now. Wisenut is a meta crawler and they are using this to feed to MSN Japan.

The only other option is that it is Inktomi, but I don't seem to have any luck with Inktomi and Japanese pages.

Well it also could be those LookSmart listings you had. Even though they hadn't performed for you in the past they might be picking up now.

I still have not been able to work this out. I had another look at the Looksmart listing and I cannot see any reason why it would suddenly cause a jump in the traffic.

Nor does it seem to be Wisenut.

MSN Japan now provides 25% of what websearch.yahoo.co.jp provides.

How's this though, goo is now providing just a bit more than MSN Japan!
