Does anyone have any experience with setting up a Yahoo or Rakuten store? It seems expensive at first but it would reach a lot of people. And setting up the Yahoo Auctions channel seems easy too. I need an ecommerce store and I am debating with the best way to go about it in Japan.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences or opinions.

Hi there, we have set up several Rakuten stores. Be prepared for quite a large amount of paper work/bueracracy (such is life in Japan) but the traffic is there if you want to chase it. It does take a bit of time to have a look at what your competitors are doing on rakuten and creating a profile that will be appealing to Japanese. After all, it may not be so much what you are selling as how you sell it! Note especially that bank transfer is still probably the most common way for payments to be processed in Japan (although credit card payments are almost up there now; there are 4 credit cards in circulation for every adult Japanese).
