Gong Xi Fa Choi, or, Happy Chinese New Year, especially for all you Piggies out there.

Traditions differ according to locale, but generally, orders of the day include New Underwear (preferably red), Jiaozi (meat dumplings), Zongzi (glutinous rice parcels) , Man Tou (steamed bread), Mandarin Trees, and a good time with family.

In Korea, eat a bowl of ddeok-guk (rice cake soup), since you're a year older now.

I got a nice new-year card from the people who translated a part of my site (Simplified Chinese, Mandarin, displayed in UTF-8, before you all ask!), which had a little map showing the 7 (I thought it was 6) main dialects of Chinese and where they are spoken.

Nothing about character sets though. %^>

Yes. Gung Xi Fa Cai! or Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Wishing the best to all.

Some interesting facts come out of this year's new year. The largest migration by train ever according to one report I read and I am sure there are many more.

I do wonder how much this must cost some business. Many are closed in Hong Kong until 24!
