Translation of Google Maps of Japan into English

Is there road map software with vectors as detailed?

Since the map is not available in English, is there computer software where it is available? I need highly detailed vectors without the Japanese. Is there a translation project to put the text in romaji, do anyone know? What is the best commercial or other mapping software in existence?

The English version of Google Earth is free of Japanese notation.

There is a wiki project called WikiMapia [wikimapia.org] that uses the Google Earth API. Although not all of the data is in English there are a lot of people adding English descriptions to various areas of Japan.

None of the major free mapping services have data available in English as you probably know. However those would be the places I would begin asking whether their map software provider has English versions in the works. I have seen car navigation systems that used (limited) English, so there are some companies working on this.
