Can anyone give me feedback on the (non-English) pages? (You can change your browser language by going to tools->internet_options on IE.)
Just about to embark on Asian promotional phase i.e. getting listed in the major engines and directories.
Can anyone give me their experience or advice about this? At the moment, I simply have friends in those countries assisting me - with me telling them what to do.
In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a one-man web site trying to get my latest site noticed. The site just launched last August and has had pretty good uptake in the english-speaking world; but, my core market lies in Asia.
I have always been glad of this forum,

If you upgrade to IE 5.5 you can also install a number of Language Packs including Japanese, Korean and various Chinese fonts. The Browser then automaticall detects the correct one to use or you can manually switch via the system tray.
As to promotion, there are a few threads here that will be useful to you such as:-
Designing for the Asian market [webmasterworld.com]
What are the best Languages for Penetrating Asia [webmasterworld.com] and
Wading into deep water [webmasterworld.com] about translating your site and entering text on Non Roman languages.
We also have the makings of an Asia Pacific overview starting here [webmasterworld.com] which may have some interesting information for you.
Something perhaps of particular interest to you will be an interesting discussion entitled The challenge of English language site for Far East audience [webmasterworld.com] some time ago which deserves another look about promoting sites in English to Far east audiences. During that discussion we also touched on optimising for ESL which as I say seems would be right down your alley.
As to which Engines will be important, there are a number of Engines and Directories for each Country will will be usefull to you, and I would make sure your non-English pages are indexed by Google, Inktomi and Wisenut as they power a number of Engines in Japan and Korea. Check the list of threads in the Asia-Pacific Forum [webmasterworld.com] for references to these countries.
Hope this serves as a starting point for your endeavours, we look forward to having you join in the discussions with some of your experiences.
