China orders clampdown

After a three- month inspection of the country's internet cafés, Beijing has ordered 2,000 to close down and suspended another 6,000.

The thousands which have been allowed to continue operating have been ordered to use "information purifiers" – devices which will allow the police to monitor which websites are being accessed from the cafés' computers.

bad news for me...having spent several months working hard at promoting our site in China, I rather doubt that anyone is going to look at it if it's liable to go on police records

good news for the makers of the cheaper WAP phones I suppose

Very intersting. So is the fact that so many isp's are blocking email from china. I knew it was on the rise, but not epidemic proportions.
