I just got done reading this 10 page article and wanted to put up a link: Google in China: The Big Disconnect [nytimes.com] (login may be required)

This is one of the better written pieces I've seen recently about the Internet and China. It gives a well researched view of not only the issue of Google and censorship but also insights about the Internet users in China. Take the time and read the whole thing.

Thanks for posting the link to that peice. I agree, it's a very good article on the subject.

Note: I wonder if I were to add <!-- falun --> to my web pages, if that would be enough to have them banned in China. If so, that might prove to be an excellent method in preventing phishing attempts originating from China.
