article [chinatechnews.com]
Sina.com (SINA) has launched its iAsk local search engine in Chongqing, becoming the third search engine in China behind Baidu and Google to provide such service. Sina will also open local search services in Jinan, Qingdao, Chengdu and Nanjing. Sina says these cities were chosen because they are home to many small and medium-sized enterprises.

See the new service offered on the iAsk [iask.com] site.

it's a strategic action, i think. Since i have lived many places(large/medium/small cities)in China, i think people really meet local search problems when querying online. There are at least two reasons:some place are less developed in information technology; another is that search engines themselves pay little information from the bottom place like county-level cities in many aspects. I'm sure it will win!
