I've never been much of a meta-search fan but this one returned some good info in the SERPs on several test searches. Maybe the technology has finally reached a usable level.

I think this is true, and is partly by virtue of the fact that the general quality of search results is now much higher. I also found the clustered results surprisingly helpful, giving me an easy click rather than typing in a qualifying word.
