Our webmaster fears: Google's analytics it may cause some issue with webtrends.
Is this fear realistic?
Does anyone have any experience on this?

We do it all the time and have never had a problem with interaction. We start our clients with both kinds of tags and then it's easy for them to switch over to the more powerful tool when they've gotten all they can get out of GA. The main conflict, if you want to call it that, is that Google wants URL arguments to have certain names, and WebTrends wants different names. Between the two, WT can much more easily adapt to Google's parameter names than the other way around. But you have to plan it out. (I'm referring to the marketing-campaign related URL arguments like WT.mc_id and utm_campaign)
