Anyone know where in the number scale the figures become more or less trustworthy?
I used to hear that 100,000 was the mark to look for. Anything over that is completely unreliable.
I think I read a post from Brett once that said 10,000 was the mark he used.
I have several sites under 5,000 and it is pretty much dead-on. Still I only consider it accurate within context, like if you compare the rankings to rankings of similar sites.
For a point of reference, I have one site (an admin control panel type of site) which I use for hours a day, every day of the week. All IP's are blocked from it except ones from my local network, so I know that no one else is visiting it. This sites rankings hover around 330,000 so I believe that this is what 1 daily visitor will do for your rankings.
I believe Alexa rankings can be important and I know that money is made and lost every day due to Alexa rankings. The fact is that it's the only tool that contains the information that it does, so it's the best of what's available. You just have to understand its' limitations and know how to use it.
I have personally met sites online from just couple of months within the first 10000 which is complete joke of course, and solid sites beyond the 200000 which have successful web presence and online business for years!
I just tried this on several of my sites and it showed 40% - 75% of my actual traffic.
That tool is directly correlated to Alexa....
You can easily see that there is a direct correlation to Alexa figures...
At similar Alexa Rank figures correspond similar Metric Market figures.... It's not realistic

Robert, IMO, you're sort of perpetuating an "us" vs "them" situation when you post a link to a thread in the supporters section here in the public section.

Not my intention at all. It's a link that would be helpful for members who are also supporters who might be following this thread. It hit me when I posted it that not everyone would be able to access it, so I thought it best just to acknowledge that and to encourage members to join.
A goodly part of WebmasterWorld activity, I should add, really does take place in the public section... but, for obvious reasons, material that's unique to the Supporters section needs to stay there.
I don't want to get into a discussion about the Supporters forum, incidentally, but the proper place for it in any case is in the Community Center, not here.
