Noticed multiple requests for siteinfo.xml coming from an IP range owned by Amazon.com.

207.171.167.25 - - [08/Aug/2005:11:01:13 -0700] "GET /siteinfo.xml HTTP/1.1" 301 257 "-" "Java/1.4.2_04"

Didn't find anything mentioned here about it, so I thought I'd post this link: [a9.com...]

The file is easy enough to put together and will create a drop-down menu of your selected webpages when an A9 toolbar user hits your site - all 2 of them ;)

This technology is offered freely to other toolbars/search utilities to use, so it may prove valuable to webmasters if it catches on.

I had not seen this. Interesting feature - but what value would it ad for the user over the navigation that is already available on a well designed site? I guess the value for A9 (or any other toolbar) is that they have the opportunity to get even more detailed information about traffic patterns on the web.

It gives the user an opportunity to view your most important pages, from the toolbar.

I used the A9 toolbar in my Firefox browser. On the Site Info tool, when visiting a site without siteinfo.xml, you will see standard Alexa stats AND a list of competitive sites. When you include sitemap.xml, the list of competitive sites is replaced with your site menu. I organized my menu by major category, with a couple of pages for each. That is MUCH BETTER than allowing a list of competitor sites.
