AltaVista: "link:www.mysite.com" doesn't work

I was checking how many sites that linked to one of my sites by using the free tool at [marketleap.com...] and got XX on AltaVista.
So I went to AltaVista to check which these sites were and typed "link:www.mysite.com" as AltaVista instructs here: [altavista.com...]
But all I get is three links regardless of which site I add in the search: one for morningstar, one for ebay and one for hoovers.

Whats up?

Those are ads. I got plenty of links after them

AltaVista now uses Yahoo, remember. Try the "linkdomain:" function.

I wonder why AV hasn't updated their documents though? Looks like Yahoo! has totally abandoned it.

On Yahoo, the link: command works. But you have to know that the "http://" is required, as in, link:http://www.mysite.com

The site: command, on the other hand, works better without the "http://" in front.

The nice thing about Yahoo's link: command is that you can add other keywords after it, or even exclude a site. For example,
link:http://www.mysite.com -site:www.mysite.com

This will give you external links. Try it, you'll like it. Especially if you're used to Google's lame link command.
