Just received an email from "Crawl Wave" notifying me that my website is being reviewed for inclusion and went to removed_due_to_warm_welcome_see_post_3.com.

Does anybody has some background info?

Thanks

I got this one too and was wondering the same thing. One the suggest a site page they have the following:

Yahoo! reserves the right to edit all titles and descriptions.

In the event that we have questions about the placement of this site and to ensure that listings in Yahoo! cannot be changed by unauthorized persons, please provide the following:

Yahoo?

I think the background info. you need can be found in #13 in the TOS [webmasterworld.com].

"cwnet" asking about CrawlWave on the first day of joining the forum ... sheesh. Try a little harder next time.

Jumping to conclusions?

I came here to ask a legit question and not to be accused of shaddy marketing tricks on my very first post.

For the record: I am not associated with that SE in any way.

Jumping to conclusions?

Not a very far jump given the evidence.

Fair enough if you're not associated with them. You should still edit the URL out per the TOS. Just a suggestion....

Never heard of Crawl Wave. I get about 10-20 emails a week from various "search engines" and "Web directories" saying one of my sites is being crawled/considered for inclusion. I usually find these emails in my spambox.

I got a spam from them too.

They appear to be a meta engine using a bad PHP search script and serving Google AdSense to make money.

Non-player.

Same here.

Why are we discussing this again? As it seems to be a nothing else than a META search script claiming to "search the quality web" using AdSense to make money.

Also, if you've noticed, their format of the interface is the same as Google, no difference at all:

CrawlWave:

Your search - [query] - did not match any documents.
No pages were found containing "[query]".
Suggestions:
- Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
- Try different keywords.
- Try more general keywords.

Result 0 - 10 of about 1111 for [query] (0 seconds)

Google:

Your search - [query] - did not match any documents.
No pages were found containing "[query]".

Suggestions:
- Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
- Try different keywords.
- Try more general keywords.
Also, you can try Google Answers for expert help with your search.

Results 1 - 10 of about 1111 for [query] (0.12 seconds)

See the difference? I mean...similarity.

I received several emails from them today telling me "Congratulations on the successful addition of
"mywebsite.com"
to CrawlWave (A search directory of the world's top 1 million web sites).

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it doesn't look like a meta search to me.

The email also includes a username and password to login to an account at mycrawlwave.com (Mods: not sure if I can name this URL, but since we are discussing this search engine..). They seem to be offering some type of inclusion system with their "partner network of search engines" (whatever that means).

Amyway, I haven't logged into it yet as I don't want to verify my email for some spammers (if that's what they are).

Again, any background info on these guys?
