Iis 5 stmp email server

help me set it up, any input appreciated

i just installed IIS for my winxp, and i have the webpage running well. i dont have a domain name, so i just go with my ip address. is there any way i can set up an email server just like my web server? i see IIS offers SMTP but not POP3... how can i use POP then? also, i am in a university campus and i use the U's pop3 service to get my own email. does that matter?

i dont even know how to use smtp... help me out to become a webmaster plz...

You'll need to intall a POP3 server. The IMS POP3 server is freeware. The site at [digitalmapping.sk.ca...] tells you where to get it and how to integrate it with Microsoft's SMTP server.

Stumbled across a SMTP/POP3/Finger server that has a freeware version called the ArGoSoft Mail Server [argosoft.com] that might be another alternative.

ArGoSoft is a good one for NT for a small number of addreses.

There is a purchaseable server I use called Mercur - available from atrium software.

I like this one a whole lot - very easy to configure and use.
