However, not only am I looking to outsource business, but I am also looking for a freelancer to revamp my site. I would like to compensate the freelancer who revamps my site in a form other than money, and have come up with a couple of options:
Option 1
Give them exclusive rights to all of our high-end clients.
In other words, we will bring all of our high-end clients to that freelancer before we bring them to anyone else. They will have first dibs. We could also state in the contract that if we don't bring them X amount of business in a period of six months, that we would pay them what they would have charged us to do it.
Option 2
Give them a percentage of the business.
Which one do you feel is the better option for both the freelancer and us (we always prefer a win-win situation)?
QUESTIONS ABOUT OPTIONS
Option 1
1. How much business should we state (in dollars) that we will bring the freelancer within the 6 month period? I suppose it would depend on how much it would cost to revamp our site. If that is the case, then what percentage of that cost would be a fair amount of business that we should be obliged to bring to them within that period?
Option 2
1. How much of a percentage of our business would be fair?
2. My company is just a sole proprietorship right now. How do I give the freelancer a percentage of the business? And how would they benefit from that percentage? Would I just send them that percentage of the profits each year?
And if anyone has any better options for this situation, let me know.
Thanks.
When I freelance I want money for it, as soon as possible. That's all I want.
Given that most freelancers really know nothing about your business, how stable it is, what threats it faces, how much you actually charge your clients and so on, it is just too risky.
The way I see win:win is this: I do a good job, they pay a fair price. End.
