Forum Flooding on non profit website

Any course of action?

I have a website that is non-profit, just a hobbie site. It has came under flooding from another hobbie site, which has admitted to doing the flooding. My understanding is anything under 5,000 dollars the FBI will not become involed in and most ISPs are not interested in it since they cant really get in trouble for it. Is there any corse of action that can be taken? Obviously the first one is securing the forum to stop the flooding attacks but anything after that?

In your TOS clearly spell out the consequences of misusing the board.

I would also consult an attorney if it is causing damage to your site. You could also look into banning them.

If your forum doesn't currently have the option of requiring registration I recommend you upgrade to one that does.

People are less likely to be malicious if they know you might have some information that could track them down.

Sorry for the delay, the issue is not posts, they are actually registering users,and send out lost password requests. They seem to have stoped know and I am currently trying to secure the site better to avoid it happening in the future. I had one user receive 5000 emails they said. I personally received 200+ emails. SO unfortionally the the terms of service wouldnt work very well.

Personally (and this is just me, mind!) i would make life difficult for them till they stop.

Post your proof on your site and direct the local media to it. Really critise them for what theyre doing.

Get some publicity out of it - and watch them backtrack as they start to realise theyll lose face out of it.

BUT!

I cant emphasis enough the incredibly large can of worms youll open up with this one!

The media are almost as fickle as search engines are.

AND!

You are likely to set youself up for a long haul of tit for tat battling!

So be warned!

Just a suggestion - not a course of action that you HAVE to take. Just want to clear that up, OK? :)
