website value?

I created and have managed for some years the website of a business that supplies physical services. The owner is now retiring, has not sold the business, and will be closing the site.
I was wondering if the site by itself has any sale value? I'm guessing probably not, because it's not an e-commerce site. But it's had good rankings on Google for much of its life, so would even a redirect to a similar business be worth something?
How can one gauge the value, if any?
Thanks

If you are the owner of the domain, the "Registrant" you can seek a buyer for it, but its contents aren't usually part of the sale, it would be difficult to find a buyer for the domain if your services are part of the bargain. Not impossible, just unlikely. If the domain name was related to the now closed business, they may object to its sale, another "it depends".

The previous owner who commissioned your work most likely would consider themselves to be the owner of that content, having paid you to create it. Laws differ around the world, best to consult a knowledgeable attorney who works in the field. Unfortunately, we don't offer legal advice here.
