Bet they'll be mostly wiped out in a few years by a company that spits out coins in just 30 seconds. Although they'll still have some loyalty among professional crypto-currency miners that like to stick to the "old" ways.

I think this summaries Kodak's plans quite nicely:

"Storing the information in a blockchain doesn't protect your copyright any more than copyright law already does," commented David Gerard, author of Attack of the 50ft Blockchain.

"Notice how they're marketing it: they state a problem, then say the blockchain can solve it. But there's no mechanism by which the blockchain could do that.

Kodak are just trying anything that might boost the share price.

I think blockchain will have a lot of uses, but this is not one.

The contract is considered a scam by most cryptominers. You buy a two year contract for an Antminer S9. You pay more for the contract that buying the device outright from Bitmain. Then after the two years, you don't get to use the hardware any more. Only a fool that doesn't do their research would buy such a contract.
