I particullarly would like to find out about valuing a website (based on page rank / visits / profitability??) and tax considerations about selling a personal site (obviously country specific).
Any help wold be much appreciated!

I purchased one site for $5k a few years ago. The site didn't generate any revenue, but had a single-word .com domain, excellent listings in yahoo, and traffic centered around its forums. Since I planned to jettison the forums, I felt the only asset value was in the domain name itself and future traffic. Even at 5cents/click, it turns out it was a good buy.
Ive got a regional directory site that i was thinking of selling (ive got a few other ideas that i just dont have the time or capital to implement), but from the various calculations,etc it doesnt look worth my while.
My main problem is that I set the site up, but I dont have the facility or time to update and maintain it as I would like (I had plan to write articles, etc for the site). Also the site doesnt generate any revenue, as i intended it as a not-for-profit site, so its not a very attractive prospect for a potential buyer!
I think ill just do my best to keep the site up to date and try to generate some revenue from it!
Does anyone know if affiliate programmes are a worthwhile activity for generating income (im fairly new to the web business world but I assume that APīs are really only of use if they are related to your market)? I have very few graphics on my site as it is, and im hesitant to add banner adds, etc (i really detest 99% of the ads out there - what can i say - i from a marketing background!).

They sure can be, if you find a program that compliments your site. You do not necessairily need banners either. Some programs offer text links, and some let you integrate forms, etc... onto your site.
one more question, as I set the site up on my spare time and havent generated income from it, i havent registered it as a business and therefore tax, etc.
I had a look at a couple of affiliate programme sites and they require tax information.
Will i need to register my site as a buiness in order to subscribe to these programmes? I registered my details with a site that acted as a third party bewteen publishers and advertisers and they sent me a tax form to fill in!
Basically i want to know what the score is with generating income from your website, while in full time employment?
