Liquidweb Datacenter Is Down

Pingdom reports my server has been down since 12:30am, it's now 7:48am CST.

Here's the info from their website. 7+ hrs of downtime because of a power surge is pretty unacceptable.

"DC2 Power Event
A subset of customers were affected by an apparent power surge which took a UPS system offline and tripped the breaker protecting that system. Power has been restored to those affected. We are working to completely restore all services. We will provide regular updates via this support page. As always please feel free to contact us via ticket or by calling our toll-free support number."

I know this type of stuff has happened to Rackspace and The Planet before as well, so I guess my number got drawn this time. Just sucks when it's your server.

Lucky for you, in my case, the servers were down for over 12 hours. It is in such cases that you absolutely desire to have a multi-homed hosting solution serving your web pages from multiple data centers.

Hmmm... I don't think I was in that subset, at least I didn't notice any down time.

I better go check further.

Ken_b - Yes I am on a dedicated server cluster. It seems only DC2 was affected which also hosts LiquidWeb's phone system. Hence many customers couldn't even contact them via phone during the downtime. Everything looks to be back to normal though. Got 23% monthly cost as SLA credit for the downtime. Make sure to file your SLA claim within 5 days of the downtime.
