Making a book from my forum content - but what about users?

What are the legalities involved in making a book using forum posts?

I own a forum, and noticed a need from my users to read some of the threads in a book format.

What are the legalities involved in using their posts in a book? The forum has a basic disclaimer/rules saying that all the content on this sites are copyrighted and all rights reserved - but I'd like to know what would be the correct procedure.

Do I email the entire group and ask them if they'd like their post in the book? Email individuals one by one is possible, but would be too time consuming.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Well, you won't get any useful legal advice from a forum. With a project like this it would probably be best to consult a lawyer.

Posters own the copyright on their own posts and would need their consent before you could include in your book. Maybe you could form a TOS that changes the copyright ownership but you'd have to have already done that. I doubt you would be able to change the terms retrospectively.
