i am just about to register a domain for myself and have done some research for my market.

when using a kw tool to learn estimated monthly searches containing my keywords / keyphrases I get vastly different rsult depending on whether an 's' is included. I'm reluctant to give too much away about my keywords so I will use a closely related example. can't think of a good one so I will use my actual keyword...

diving-liveaboards = LOW searches per month
liveaboard-diving = HIGH searches per month

Please excuse my ignorance on this btu I would have thought that diving-liveaboards would capture 3 keywords in total. diving, liveaboard, liveaboards but this doesn't appear to be the case judging from the result i get from using the search estimation tool.

I get varied result depending on which software I use anyway, so I am just gathering data from different sources at this time, and will analze it to form a better opinion about which keywords i should be using.

In ther meantime I would really appreciate any comments from you guys on the above. Does my domain name really matter that much anyway, as long as my content is good?

It is not what you want to register but what are you going to be able to register.

Get the list as long as 40-50 search terms without hyphens that will work for you.

Then "test your luck", first checking .COM extension (the best) and then .ORG, .NET, .BIZ. If you find any available, register those that you like right away because they will disappear.
