I bought a forum last month, and the previous owner's buddy was added to the "Administrators" group in the Forum. I somehow trusted that person and never removed both the owner and his buddy from the Administrator's group. Apparently, he logged into my Vbulletin Forums last week, backed up the entire database including users, threads, posts etc. and started up his own forum with my forum content, and sent an email to all my registered users advertising for his forums.

Can the community please advice me on what steps I need to take to ask that person to take his site down and make him delete all my forum content? I have already banned those two users from logging into the forum. What legal help can I get from the lawyers? What category does this type of content theft fall under?

Thanks!

Did you have a formal agreement covering the sale of the forum? I'd start there.

Failing that, what documentation do you have spelling out the terms of sale? (Emails?)

You need to talk to a lawyer. You needed to talk to one before you bought the forum. It's never too late...
