I came across something today of, at all places, the Dilbert blog. Scott adams was saying that his blog readership has been growing but he's not seeing a corresponding increase in revenue.

He mentioned that he thinks a lot of it is due to the fact that RSS feeds allow people to get his blog content without the ads.

It makes sense to me with my (very) limited experience with feeds. I was wondering what other people thought about this. If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to set the feeds to only show a snippet, not your entire content. Right now, I have a couple of blogs with Atom feeds. I'll have to look at the situation more closely but I'd appreciate any thoughts.

You're not mistaken. This is definitely the way to go.
If you put all your content in a feed, you're just giving it away for free.

Surely you only syndicate the title, summary and a hyperlink to the content/ad server?

If your target audience use RSS readers I would integrate the ads into the content.
