I have a really good domain I bought and an idea I feel is going to be the big one...really I know it is going to be a huge deal. That said I am kinda in a tight here.

How do I get this idea coded without a possible stolen idea. I am in the planning stages of what I want to have in the code for the site to offer and will begin very soon taking bids on this but by taking bids I am opening myself to get the Idea taken...

I have a really good domain for the site, it is almost impossible to forget if you are told the domain and I have searched the net there is none like what I want to build.

In the next couple months I should have the idea on papaer as to the site build and what I want the site to look like, functions etc. so if anybody can let me know how the best and safest way to get this site coded I am all ears.

It is going to be over my head on coding and will need this done by a professional coder and anyway if I could do it I don't have the time.

I know all the stuff on getting all the code having it done on my machine etc but it is so easy to steal a great idea if I have to take several bids on this.

I might ad here the site will be built without any thought as to SEO but will be a word of mouth site built for the users that will be a part of the site. It won't be a social networking site either..

The above qutoation has one thing right and one thing wrong. Yes, a professional coder is a good idea, but no, you cannot use a professional coder for such an enterprise in order to cut back your own time commitment. It is very rare that a project will come to fruition through outsourced efforts without a considerable time investment by the owner; if you want this to work then you need to find a lot of time for testing, polishing, testing, promoting, marketing, promoting, marketing and promoting it.

For privacy or secrecy, nothing beats hiring your coder as a full-time on-site employee with non-compete and NDA clauses in his contract. I am aware that full-time on-site may cost you a lot, but if this idea is really what you say it is then it's probably not a good idea risking outsourcing it into the great grey monkey mass as it is very difficult to be sure of quality and secrecy - especially if you are unable to understand the code yourself. A half-way-house is to hire an overseas coder who is supervised by a reputable on-site expatriate manager.

Next: Keep it simple - very few great ideas are complex interconnected systems. My advice is to build the core feature of the site first and then build out other drift-bloat over time. May not be relevant advice, but if you are listing large number of additional features, then it just may be.

Finally, congratulations on your great idea and domain.

Another possible route (I have done a few similar deals in the passed few years)

Find the person that could create the coding
and offer a form of partnership plus indeed non-compete and NDA.

Guys thanks for the comments I am still pondering how to bring this to life as that is really what a website is so to spaeak.

Your comments are well noted and taken into consideration. I first need to get the overall site layout, navagition, and features I want how I want it to be presented. Then I am able to bring a coder into the pictureand provide a complete picture for them to complete.

I plan on investing in the basic design or core code of the site as there is nothing worse than having to change and rechange the basic design about 1/2 through the process. I understand there will always be something I might add down the road but the core product is what I don't want to contiue to change as this will have a ripple effect on the fuctional direction of the site.

vincevincevince very good point I am and will invest the time into the design but just doint have the time to do the coding with my other websites and business activities I am obligated to do.

When I do get it completed and up live I will post it in the review this site section....

Naa.. just do what I do.. have a great idea and do nothing with it due to lack of resources then watch somebody else come to market with the same idea six months later and become very rich.

I'm sitting on one right now that would be pretty big..

anybody want to purchase a good idea? (JK)

How do I get this idea coded without a possible stolen idea.

Won't a Non-Disclosure Agreement help?

rocknbil thanks
A non disclosure will but what happens if they are in another country or for that matter call a friend and give them the low down.

I know there is really no fool proof way I will just have to really be careful with whom I share the information and as someone said bring in possible partner in on this project and share.

This has come to light not long ago in a huge lawsuit with stealing a idea that balooned into a monster site.

[webmasterworld.com...]

They are suing over the idea not the code....

Do what I suggested
Once the developer is a partner he/she will work for both combined interest not against.
Further there is no way to keep your idea 100% protected at some point you will need to unveil a few details.
You are looking too much at the half empty cup and not enough at the half full cup.
My partner and I have worked a few times on such deals
Among those projects some concepts were unveiled but we decided to pass on…
And we still have a very good biz reputation :)

henry0 Thanks,
This is the route I am going to take now I will start on the basic layout and begin looking for a "Trusted" partner to bring into the project.

Thanks guys for the info it helps to talk it out think it out and look at suggestions.
