OK - I've been searching for this data all morning and haven't really found anything solid. Could just be I'm looking for the wrong stuff.

I'm trying to find recent stats on the following situation - or as close as can be had:

Percentages of users using search to get to a site rather than typing the domain into the address bar. This can include combos like domain, domain.com or www.domain.com.

I was directed to check out comscore, but I couldn't find anything there (In truth, I don't often go there, so I may simply not know my way around enough to get the deets I'm after - or if it's subscription based, I know we don't have one.)

So, I'm turning to you all here. :)

Thanks for any help gang - hoping I grabbed the correct place to drop this question, too...

These should show up in normal web stats, but if you have control over the domain, maybe Google Analytics?

I believe he is asking for global stats on this, i.e. the total amount of Internet users, perhaps by country that use a SE to find a site as opposed to using a domain name from an ad or magazine article or something else and typing it in directly, is that an accurate statement?

If so, research like this has probably been done, I would try Forrester Research. Most likely you will have to pay for one of their reports if you use their site. You might be able to find it somewhere else where a study was released and someone is citing pieces of it for an article, but that may be a bit hard to find. I have tried to do this before and honestly I have never found a [inexpensive] and easy way to find exact stats on Internet use when I want them. I would love to hear if others have some other sources.
