Cashing UK checks in the USA

I hope this is the correct forum to post this topic. I reside in the USA, and I have a personal checking account with a major bank. I've begun receiving checks from an UK based affiliate program, which are in UK currency.

I went to my bank and from what I understand it takes up to 6 weeks to clear the checks, and there could be potential fees from the issuing bank. The affiliate network I'm dealing with pays only by check or by UK-only bank transfer, so I'm hoping someone can suggest a way for me to cash these checks efficiently and without paying heavy fees. Someone else suggested I open a checking account with a UK bank, and then just receive payments to that account. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it will take weeks, yes it may be up to $20 per transaction.

Even with a GB Pounds account, you will still pay fees, though you may reduce the amount a little.

I used to be in the reverse of that, and found that getting them to paypal may be worth investigating - or having credit to spend with the affiliate company.

Good Luck!
