A large hosting company, I wont mention names but they have a lot of 1's and 1's in it, show that they are sold out of dedicated servers, for the past month.

I find it hard to belive that one of the worlds largest hosting company, can't do capacity planning, and have run out of dedicated servers.

Do you think they may be getting out of the dedicated server market?

I have been quite happy with their service, and dread switching to a new company, if they are getting out of this market.

I was looking over the quarterly statement of another hosting company (publicly held) just yesterday and the indications for this particular business was that Dedicated Hosting brought in much more margin per customer then shared hosting and that the margins for Shared Hosting were getting squeezed hard due conditions (lower prices in the market).

I would imagine that would be true of other hosts too. This company isn't as big as the one your referencing... more along the lines of 100K customers.

I thought the infamous Planet always sold out their dedicated server. Not so sure about others.
