Hi guys,

I'm forming a California LLC for my web venture (there's 4-5 more people involved in the project).

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good online service?

One package I saw on a major corporate formation website is this:

$149 for filing
Expedited Preparation and Filing the Articles of Formation

6 months of Registered Agent Service and access to Compliance WatchSM Online Tool

$50,000 Corporate Veil Guarantee™

Company Name Search & Reservation

I also wouldn't mind paying for a "maintenance" service which shows me what kind of records I need to keep to keep the LCC's corproate veil alive and well.

In general, that doesn't sound too bad for an initial filing price. You probably won't be able to find too much cheaper. Just be sure to check all the fine print for hidden fees. In most cases, the first price the companies quote is the price for their services. All the individual filing fees that have to be paid to file the individual papers usually aren't quoted initially.

I also wouldn't mind paying for a "maintenance" service which shows me what kind of records I need to keep to keep the LCC's corproate veil alive and well.

That would probably be the Compliance Watch access you mentioned, if it's the same company I used.

It sounds like the same company I used to register my company. I switched to a different one after a few years because the annual fees were way out of line with the services they were actually performing. (Maybe some people need all the bells and whistles, but we didn't.)

The company I'm using now specializes in Delaware corps, so I have no idea how good/expensive they are for CA filings.

Thanks! Can you tell me the name of your current service? Maybe they will expand to California eventually.
